Recommended UI Reading: Universal Principles of Design

Since most programmers aren’t UI designers, & there is a vast area of knowledge to get up to speed. A good overview of the general rules & guidelines as well as reasons for the guidelines (much like object design patterns books) is invaluable when first designing interfaces. So, I looked around, & without too much low level info (that can be dug into later if needed) a great book to learn from in bit sized chunks is Universal Principles of Design by William Lidwell, Kritina Holden & Jill Butler. Print edition ISBN-13: 978-1-592-53587-3 and digital edition: ISBN-13: 978-1-610-58065-6. It’s less than $20 through most outlets & cover 125 of the most fundamental guidelines and considerations in 2 pages (1 explanation page & 1 example page to illustrated the concept & sometimes show anti-patterns).

Thanks for implementing my request that direction arrows and bumpers light up. I see you extrapolated the idea to “every component gives you feedback!” So: kudos.
